Stade Rennais logo history — the pride of Brittany
Stade Rennais is the biggest club in Brittany, and its identity is closely tied to the region. That shows clearly in this season's ermine patterns and Breton motto.
Stade Rennais was founded in Rennes in 1901. The year is printed on the back of the 2026/27 third shirt.
Rennes won the Coupe de France in 1965 and again in 1971.
Rennes won their third Coupe de France in 2019, beating PSG on penalties in the final.
What does the Stade Rennais logo mean?
The crest uses red and black, which gives the club its nickname, Les Rouge et Noir. The ermine is the traditional symbol of Brittany, and this season's kits use it alongside the Breton motto "Kentoc'h mervel eget bezañ saotret" to celebrate the club's regional roots.
Stade Rennais kit history — rouge et noir
Rennes play at home in red, with black shorts and details, and usually wear white away. Puma makes the 2026/27 kits. The collection is built around Brittany: Rennes' half-timbered houses, the Breton cross and motto, and the club's 1901 roots.
