Under Sergej Jakirović, Hull grabbed sixth place on the last day, then beat third-placed Millwall in the play-off semi-finals.
Oli McBurnie tapped in a late winner against Middlesbrough in the final seconds, and Hull won 1-0 to return to the Premier League.
What does the Hull City logo mean?
The crest shows a tiger's head, after the club's nickname, the Tigers, which comes from their amber and black stripes. This season's third shirt uses a different symbol, the three gold coronets from the coat of arms of Kingston upon Hull.
Hull City kit history — amber, black and a local brand
Hull have played in amber and black for most of their history, which is where the Tigers nickname comes from. For 2026/27, Hull-based Oxen Sports replaced Kappa as kit maker.
