Czechia logo history — the Proud Lions
The lion has long been the symbol of Czech football, and it's at the heart of the national team's crest.
After Czechoslovakia split in 1993, the Czech Republic began playing as its own national team. Puma became the kit supplier the following year and stayed for 33 years.
The Czech football federation unveiled an updated national team crest, its first change in about ten years. It's a coat-of-arms style badge inspired by historic arms from the Přemyslid dynasty, and the federation insisted the lion had to stay as the team's identifying symbol.
The new crest was part of a full visual identity presented at a "Proud Lions" gala in Prague. It was designed to connect history with modern style, and it's the crest on this page.
What does the Czechia logo mean?
The lion is the traditional symbol of the Czech lands and has represented Czech football for generations. The crest's coat-of-arms shape draws on the medieval Přemyslid dynasty. The team's red, white and blue colours come from the Czech flag.
Czechia kit history — red, white and blue
Czechia usually play at home in red and away in white, the colours of the Czech flag along with blue. Puma made every Czech kit from 1994 to 2026, including the shirts worn at Euro 1996, when the Czech Republic reached the final, and at the 2006 World Cup.
In 2026, adidas signed a long-term deal covering all Czech national teams, including the men's, women's, youth and futsal teams. The first adidas kits are simple, with bespoke designs expected for the Euro 2028 cycle.
